The First Amendment IS in crisis
I tape all the Sunday talking head shows since I normally am
in Church when they air. But it also allows me to watch them in rapid
succession so I can compare and contrast.
One common thread runs through just about all of them: their
guests and commentators are about 80% liberal and/or Democrat. If they have
conservatives on their round table, they are outnumbered 3 and 4 to 1. Their
guests are often 2 to 1 anti-Trump. This also shows up in the "news"
articles in most of the MSM. There is little or no attempt at balance.
The drumbeat is often sneering, or snarky proclaiming that
of course all thinking people look down on what Trump is doing. That is why I
am amazed that Trump's favorable numbers have gone up and his unfavorable has
gone down by more than 10% in less than 60 days.
Most of those who offer their analysis have no idea what
they are talking about when discussing the administration. They still have no
idea what Trump is about...so they mock him to cover up their clueless-ness...
And when Trump does really positive things they show their bias by omission
.... they just don't mention it...
The American "free and open press" has become an
exclusive club of arrogant snobs who believe their own BS and look down on the
rest of us; the unwashed masses... They expect us to allow them to think for
us so they don't need to just give us the facts...now we must have their
The First Amendment truly is in crisis and the proof is on
display every day on almost all our news channels and news programs. Cspan is
about the only fair and balanced, unfiltered source. Fox used to be kind of
good but their future is now in doubt.
The "profession" of journalism has betrayed its
purpose and has become a delivery system for a one sided ideology. We need to
find a way back to balance or the future of our Republic is in jeopardy.
It is no wonder that more and more Americans are turning off
the TV news and looking to social media like Facebook for "news."
There they can at least get a debate with many voices involved. It is not
perfect but right now it does hold out an alternative to the bias of the media
to allow folks to get other perspectives that might bring them closer to
finding some truth. - Ann Stone
